Over a period of 4 weeks, program registrants are taught a few wrestling basics and then given a chance to compete in an inter-squad dual match. Kratos Wrestling will host Instructor-led practices on Sunday evenings from 6:00-7:30pm at Hudson High School. Our room is open to any local area wrestler who has an interest in summer-time training following a more structured workout then typically provided in open mat forums. Practice schedule is as follows:

3/19/12: No Let Down for Kratos Wrestling At the 2012 OURWAY State Championships

In back-to-back weekends, Kratos wrestlers came out ready to wrestle with plenty of fight. This weekend, OURWAY hosted the 2012 State Championships, a sister organization to OAC which holds a State Championship the week after OAC's event. Kratos Wrestling sent three wrestlers to compete at this event. All three wrestlers placed on the podium.OURWAY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Kratos wrestler, Matt Williams, fought back after a disappointing OAC showing by placing 2nd at the OURWAY state champions. In route to his 2nd place finish, Matt defeated Elijah Park (from Team Miron) whom had knocked him out of the consolation quarterfinals at OAC the week prior. Matt, a 2011 OURWAY State Champ, came close to winning his second title, but lost in the finals match by a score of 2-0 against Stone Barden from Fairfield.

Isaiah Perez earned a 6th place finish at OURWAY which secured him a place in the Kratos record books as only 1 of 2 wrestlers from our team who have placed in back-to-back weekend state tournaments.

Lastly, Anthony Perez brought plenty of fight to this weekends competition which yielded an 8th place finish in Division 2.

3/19/12: Exciting Results From OAC State Championships

Covelli CenterWithout exception, the OAC State Championship lived up to its billing with plenty of exciting action during the two day event. Kratos wrestlers were in the thick of it with twelve wrestlers in action. All of the Kratos boys put forth an extra-ordinary effort which culminated with 4 wrestlers reaching the podium during finals night and several others going very deep in the tournament before eventual elimination.

Congratulations to:

Ronnie Pietro fought his way into the semi-finals match by winning his first match by tech fall, then a close match (3-2) against a kid from BTW, and then followed up with a win in the quarter files by a score of 5-1. In the semi's, Ronnie had to face Jashon Hubbbard (from team NextLevel) whom he had faced the week prior at the Jr High State Championships. Ronnie fought hard, kept the score close, but size difference, not skill or heart, created a gap difficult to close. Ronnie dropped into the consi brackets where he won the next two matches, including a win over Nick Gionivnozo from N.Akron to capture 3rd place.

Dietrich Boysel earned 3rd place the hard way. Dietrich BoyselDee won his first match but then lost in the second round to a talented wrestlers from Westshore, Matt Kazmir in a close battle 3-4. Dee is accustomed to the fight back through the consolation brackets having done so in 2011 OAC state championship. Dee ripped off a string of SIX consecutive wins including a rematch in the consi-semis against none other then Matt Kazmir where this time Dee won 4-2. In the consi-finals, Dee faced one of his former teammates from the days back when he wrestled with Circleville. Dietrich won that match 4-2 to cap of his grade school career with a 3rd place finish at OAC.

First year wrestler, Isaiah Perez, was one of two favorable surprises at OAC for Team Kratos. Isaiah finished with a 5th place medal hanging around his neck. "Isaiah has really taken quickly to this sport and is a takedown machine," commented coach Doug Williams. Isaiah will be back in Division 1 next season and we look forward to watching him continue his progression."

The other favorable surprise came with Division 1 wrestler, Brennan Williams who finished in 5th place. Brennan not only had to square off against strong competition during the competition in order to medal, but also had to overcome a bout of stomach illness which demonstrated the heart and will of this young wrestler.

In summary, all of the Kratos Wrestlers wrestled well with most everyone winning 2 or more matches during the event. It was certainly evident to the Kratos spectators that our boys left everything they had on the mat. With two of the four placers returning next year, Kratos fans should have a lot to which to look forward next season.

Today, ten of our thirteen varsity squad members finished in the top 4 of the Sectionals competition and thus advance into the Highland Districts to be held next week. "Our team has shown a lot of improvement throughout the year and exceeded my expectations as to how many kids I'd thought would advance." commented coach Doug Williams. "Our sectionals are notoriously one of the toughest within OYWA. We entered the 9 team competition with 7 seated wrestlers of which all advanced. In addition, we had three wrestlers who were able to beat seated kids and also also earn a trip to districts."
