"Matt's intensity seemed to fuel the other kids throughout the day", commented Coach Williams. In the 56 pound weight class, Team Kratos had two strong performances. Christian Owsley (4th grade) took first place and Nick Farrell (3rd grade) brought home a 3rd place medal. Christian, a second year wrestler, has been a hard worker all season long and the 2007 Allstar Medalistshard work paid off. Christian pinned all of his opponents during the tournament. Nick Farrell, also a second year, started his day with tough double overtime loss to a seasoned wrestler from Wadsworth. "In the double overtime period, the opponent was able to escape from the bottom position during the waning seconds of the last period to put Nick at a deficit. Nick came back from the stinging decision and won his next three matches to end the day with a 4-1 record. In the 64 pound weight class, Nathan Szoch (2nd grade) took a second place in the tournament.. At the 67 pound weight class, Alex Hartner (6th grade) brought a surprise performance by winning his two first matches before losing in the championship round to a competitor from Barberton. Alex, a first year wrestler, entered the tournament with a 0.500 record but obviously peaked just at the right time. Also at the 67 pound weight class, but wrestling in a different bracket, Chris Motter (3rd grade), had a standout performance during the day. Chris lost his first match on points to a very talented and seasoned wrestler from North Akron Wrestling Club. Chris then came through the consolation bracket to take third place. Following Michael was Tyler Lewis (5th grade) at 79 pound weight class. Tyler captured a first place finish as well by winning three matches all decided by points. Revenging Jas's overtime loss, Hudson's Alex Gartner (6th grade), was able to score a takedown during sudden death overtime to earn a 3rd place victory in the consolation finals match at the 155 pound weight. What made this win especially rewarding was that Alex's consolation finals match paired him against a competitor who had previously pinned Alex during regular season competition. Wrapping up the last weight class, Hudson's Pete Mougey (6th grade), earned a 1st place finish by defeating his first opponent and then earning a second victory due to disqualification of his opponent.
